Located on a very scenic location, easy accesible by cable car or by foot under the Rosengarten group. The kitchen is open longer than in other huts which is nice after a long hike. The food is good and the staft is kind and efficient, the prices reasonable.
Impressive view from the restaurants terrace and perfect target for a hiking trip.
We startet from the hotel Rechenmachers Rosengarten which were nearly 1027m of elevation gain for 7.7km.
For those who don’t want to hike the root, they can use the gondola and hike for 60m elevation gain.
The Kölner Hütte is also a perfect starting point to discover the Rosengarten Group for a circumnavigation or crossing.
We stayed here after some late lying snow in Santner pass and some afternoon weather changed our hiking plans at the last minute. The staff here were so kind and helpful accommodating us on short notice. Food is good, room was comfy, everyone working there was so friendly, and it was a beautiful and cozy place to spend the evening!
I cannot thank the staff here enough. I have a huge fear of lightning 🌩 . And on the day we hiked up around Rifugio Coronelle, there was a big storm rolling in. Our plan was to take refuge at the hut, however we had not booked and there was no space. So after an amazing salad for lunch, we got our rain covers on and started to head away from the hut and towards the valley. However, 15 mins in, the storm came in and I got totally overwhelmed and had to return in a panicked state to the refuge. I was in tears and shaking by the time I arrived. I had chatted to Nicola before we had left and told her about my fear. Her reception of me was so warm, so kind and so loving. Her and a few of the other staff did everything they could to calm me down and make me feel safe. I was so grateful. As the weather passed through and we saw there was another gap, we are movements to leave again, this time straight down the valley to Figo di Fassa. As we left, Nicola slipped the most beautiful note into my hand. I honestly was so blown away by her and the other staff. I wish I had been in the headspaxe to get her number to say thank you. But honestly, will never forget the refuge and particularly the kindness of the staff.
This view is incomparable. The sunset is to die for. I wish I get to spend a night here and to do the via ferrata
Only stayed for lunch. The service is fast and the food is good. The view is amazing. Good approach to the santnerpass klettersteig.
I’ve been wanting to try this authentic pancake dessert that I’ve been seeing one every menu. The one here looked so good in pictures, and when it arrived at my table au was shocked to see that it looked even better in person!! And oh my did it taste delicious. It’s such a huge portion, better to share if you have someone to do so. Perfect way to end a hike day
The location is absurdly gorgeous. What a view. Food was nice and surprisingly affordable.
